ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for a sneak peek at MM Partners ongoing rehab of the old Poth Brewery in Brewerytown, which Hidden City managing editor Mike Bixler wrote about in June. The massive, 148-year-old, red brick Rundbogenstil building served as the former cold storage facility for F.A. Poth Brewing Company, which closed during Prohibition in 1936. Sixty years later, Red Bell Brewing restored the complex to serve its original purpose, but the company went out of business in 2002 and the building has been vacant since then. MM Partners’ David Waxman and Aaron Smith, active developers in the Brewerytown neighborhood and supporters of preservation and adaptive reuse, (including the adjacent Pyramid Electric Building) purchased the stunner in January of 2018 and are in the process of restoring the property.

Hidden City Project Director Pete Woodall will provide some context on Brewerytown history, followed by Aaron Smith who will share some of the specifics about the adaptive reuse process and bringing the brewery back to life.

The Details: Red Bell Brewery is located at 1500 N 31st St in Brewerytown. Tour will meet on the corner of 31st and Jefferson. Tour time is approximately one hour.

Questions, concerns, conundrums? Email Hidden City project director Pete Woodall at [email protected] or call him at 267-259-7112.
