ABOUT ABOUT

Step back into 1927 for a visit inside the Lansdowne Theater and make sure you bring your cameras! This stunning Moorish Revival Theater, which Ben Leech profiled in the Hidden City Daily last year, was designed by prolific theater architect William H. Lee, and is one of the few remaining movie palaces of Hollywood’s golden age in the Philadelphia area.

The tour will be led by Matt Schultz, executive director of the Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation. Matt will discuss the restoration process and the ambitious campaign to reopen the theater. Participants will then be able to wander the space and take photographs.

Tour will meet at the Lansdowne Theater at 31 N Lansdowne Ave, Lansdowne, PA. Tour time is approximately one hour.

Behind the Story is a new tour series specifically for Hidden City members offering intimate, behind the scenes glimpses of great buildings, places, and stories covered in the Hidden City Daily. Tours are $5 and open to Hidden City members only. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generous contributions of our 450 members to enable us to produce the Hidden City Daily's in-depth coverage of preservation, planning, architecture and design.
